Sovcomflot attends transport industry meeting with Russian President

Igor Tonkovidov, President and CEO of Sovcomflot, yesterday attended a meeting with other transport industry representatives and the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Earlier this spring, the Russian Government included Sovcomflot in the register of  strategically important companies for the country.

Vladimir Putin thanked the transport industry personnel for their commitment and hard work throughout the present difficult times. Mr. Putin emphasised that the industry’s top priority remains protecting the health of both passengers and its personnel. The President also noted the importance of preserving the investment programmes for transportation, and implementing the plans to develop the country’s transportation infrastructure, including with regard to capital equipment.

Commenting on the meeting, Igor Tonkovidov said:

“Sovcomflot operates fully in line with the priorities indicated by the President. The Company monitors the health of every crew member on every vessel, as well as every employee ashore, and makes every effort to ensure our seafarers return home in a timely fashion, despite the challenges posed to crew rotations by restrictions imposed both abroad and in some Russian seaports.”

Between 95 per cent and 100 per cent of shore-based personnel employed by SCF Group, in different locations across the globe, have been transferred to remote working. The Company was able to make this transition on a large scale promptly and without compromising its performance, thanks to integrating the necessary digital solutions into its core processes well in advance.

“Sovcomflot is fully delivering on its commitments to clients. We hope that the construction of vessels at the Zvezda Shipyard will proceed according to the schedule set in the roadmap, including the financing, given the importance of this endeavour for the national economy in general and the high demand placed on these vessels by the energy industry,” Igor Tonkovidov added.
